Platform Retirement Properties

Platform offers two types of retirement schemes designed to support independent living in later life: Retirement Living properties and Community Retirement Properties. Both options are suitable for people aged 55 and over and provide safe, manageable homes with access to support, advice and reassurance.

Our retirement schemes recognise that people’s needs and preferences vary. Some residents value shared spaces and regular contact, while others prefer to live more independently within the wider community. Across all schemes, residents have access to emergency alarm systems, planned tenancy checks and signposting to services that can help them live well and remain independent.

Retirement Living properties

Retirement Living properties are purpose-suitable homes within complexes or blocks of similar properties, located across Derbyshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Birmingham, Nottingham, Kidderminster and Worcestershire.

Homes are unfurnished one- or two-bedroom properties designed to support independent living, with access to shared communal spaces depending on the location. Residents benefit from visiting Retirement Housing Officers, who provide planned, flexible weekly contact offering advice, support and signposting to a range of services such as adult social care and occupational therapy.

Many locations offer programmed activities and events, which vary by scheme and complement any existing resident-led social clubs. Residents also have access to visiting care services from partner organisations, day and night emergency alarm systems, and some shared facilities. To help keep homes safe and suitable, a quarterly property check is carried out alongside an annual Tenancy Health Check.

Community Retirement Properties

Community Retirement Properties are individual bungalows or flats located within local communities across a range of locations. These homes usually do not include communal areas and are suited to people who prefer a more independent living arrangement.

Residents have access to a Retirement Housing Officer by telephone for advice, information and signposting to relevant services. An annual visit is carried out to complete a Tenancy Health Check, and residents also have access to a personal emergency alarm for added reassurance. This option allows people to remain part of their local community while still having access to support when needed.

Your Retirement Housing Officer

Your Retirement Housing Officer is there to provide practical support and reassurance as part of the village’s enhanced housing management service. With staff on site 24 hours a day, all year round, you’ll have access to help when you need it, as well as regular planned contact to check in and offer support.

Retirement Housing Officers can help with tenancy and rent queries, organise repairs, encourage involvement in social activities, and make sure essential records and compliance checks are kept up to date. They work as part of a wider team, so you may see your named officer or another team member during regular visits and contact, ensuring consistent support and continuity.
