What is a Housing Association - and who we are
What is a Housing Association?
Housing associations are not-for-profit organisations, providing 2.7 million homes to around six million people. Housing associations reinvest all surpluses back into building more affordable homes and supporting local families and communities. In 2023/24, housing associations built a quarter of all new homes, including three-quarters of new affordable homes.
Housing associations provide affordable, secure homes for local families in your community:
Who we are
Platform Housing Group is a customer‑focused housing association committed to providing safe, high‑quality homes and excellent services. Operating as a long‑term community anchor, we build homes across the Midlands, invest in neighbourhoods, and work closely with councils to meet local housing need.
We own and manage over 51,000 homes and are a significant deliverer of new affordable housing. Although our activity is concentrated in a band across the Midlands, we were the 10th largest house builder for completions and 5th largest for homes in the pipeline nationally in 2025 (Source: Inside Housing, June 2025).
We share the same goals as local authorities:
The National Housing Federation
The National Housing Federation (NHF) serves as the voice of housing associations in England, which provide homes for approximately six million people. Its mission is to ensure that everyone has access to a good quality home they can afford. The NHF supports its members in delivering their social purpose through various initiatives and campaigns aimed at improving housing conditions and policies
