82 homes in Nottingham to be on Octopus Energy’s Zero Bills tariff
We've begun taking first handovers of homes using Octopus Energy’s ‘Zero Bills’ tariff at our flagship scheme in Nottinghamshire.
82 of the 319 homes at the site in Beeston will be delivered with the specification, making it the biggest affordable housing site to date for the innovative tariff.
Introduced in 2022, Octopus’ ‘Zero Bills’ is a world-first energy tariff that enables customers to move into homes that are fully kitted out with state-of-the-art green tech – including a heat pump, a battery and solar panels – with no energy bills guaranteed for 5 to 10 years*.
Following a roll out with the open market, Octopus have more recently started a number of pilots to install the ‘Zero Bills’ tariff in affordable housing with Platform the latest to become a certified delivery partner.
We've recently surpassed 50,000 homes in our management and announced starts on over 1600 homes for the year in April, with the large majority of them to be gas-free.
Our Head of Innovation and Business Development Katie Gilmartin said:,
“Delivery of 82 Zero Bills homes at Trentside marks a critical milestone in our sustainability journey. Platform is committed to building homes that are good for the planet and our customers, and a further 69 homes on this gas-free site will achieve a Zero Carbon specification.”
“Our partnership with Octopus Energy and Keepmoat has unlocked homes that can both reduce the environmental impact of our communities while creating high quality, affordable places to live.”
Nigel Banks, Zero Bills Director at Octopus Energy, said:
“Zero Bills homes bring the benefits of the green energy revolution directly to people.
Partnering with Platform shows what’s possible when we work with forward-thinking housing providers - we’re making energy bills a thing of the past for those who need it most.”
Octopus Energy aims to deliver 100,000 ‘Zero Bills’ homes by 2030 and has already rolled out the initiative in Germany and New Zealand, as well as the UK.
Work began on the site at the start of 2024 with the first Zero Bills homes now handed over and more expected before the end of 2025.
