Safe Space for New Bereavement Cafe

A new bereavement cafe is providing a safe space to the local community thanks to £1,313 from our Community Chest fund.

The St Vincent de Paul Society bereavement café based in Droitwich is free of charge and offers a monthly place for people to go for a chat, refreshment, support and bereavement courses. Counselling can be signposted also. The café is run by volunteers who are trained in safeguarding and bereavement support and is held on the second Tuesday of each month 10am-12noon at Rotary House.

The funding has helped towards essential room hire to enable the group to provide such an asset to the local community.

The St Vincent de Paul Society said: “As this service is for the whole community it is great to have had support from the community, especially from organisations like Platform. Over the first two meetings we have already been able to help 27 visitors!”

Marion Duffy, Platform Housing Group’s Chief Operations Officer said, “It’s wonderful we’ve been able to provide funding to such a beneficial initiative for the community.”

Platform customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for Community Chest Funding if their work or project directly benefits local Platform customers. All applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on the Customer Experience Panel.
