Platform Housing Group is again this year putting feet on pedals and bottoms on bike seats, in a bid to raise vital funds for local children’s charity, Newlife.

Twenty Platform Housing colleagues, alongside riders joining them from event sponsors, will be completing a gruelling 200-mile cycle ride across Herefordshire, Worcestershire and Gloucestershire in the two-day event, taking place between the 21st and 22nd June.

Starting at 7:30am each day, the team will battle blistering weather, traffic and sheer pain to complete the challenge for the worthy children’s charity, based in Cannock, Staffordshire.

Gerraint Oakley, Executive Director of Growth and Development at Platform and driving force behind the charity cycle ride said; “Platform’s here to support its communities and we know that during the current climate, many local charities have been struggling to raise funds.”

He continued “We started the charity cycle ride a few years ago and this year we wanted to support a smaller local charity. Newlife do such amazing work for children living with disabilities in our localities. We hope to do them proud”.

The housing provider is asking anyone who may have a spare pound, or a few to take the time to donate to this worthy cause via the dedicated Just Giving page

The event has been sponsored by 7 local companies, including law firm Browne Jacobson. Browne Jacobson’s Partner, Gabor Taller will be taking part in the challenge and he had this to say “ At Browne Jacobson we’re committed to working with clients pushing for positive societal change, so we’re delighted to again support Platform Housing Group’s annual charity bike ride. I’m looking forward to joining PHG and the other partner sponsors for what will be a brilliant, worthy, (but gruelling) journey.”

SupercleanUK, another event sponsor, wanted to wish everyone good luck saying: “Good luck to all involved in taking on the cycle challenge. All the team at SupercleanUK will be thinking of each and every one of you. For all the miles you are cycling you are all pushing yourselves to raise money for this fabulous cause, You’re amazing! Good Luck everyone.”
