The Landline Switch Off and how it affects you
This work is necessary and part of the national digital switchover where old analogue networks are being transitioned to a fully digital network involving moving from traditional copper-based landlines to digital technologies using internet connections.
The switchover, also known as the "landline switch off," is happening between now and 2027.
Why?
The analogue network is aging and becoming increasingly unreliable, while digital technologies offer better performance, reliability, and future-proofing.
What will it affect?
The switchover will impact all users of landline phones, non-voice services (like alarms, fax machines), and potentially some telecare and telehealth devices.
