We joined hundreds of guests at this year’s Worcestershire Apprenticeship Awards, held last month at West Midlands Safari Park.

The event, attended by more than 250 people included apprentices, employers and training providers, recognised and celebrated the achievements of apprentices from across the county.  With a high number of nominations submitted this year, we were proud to see two of our own apprentices named as finalists in their categories.  The two successful colleagues were:

  • Tyler Bergin-Ruff, Grounds Maintenance Operative; a finalist in the Intermediate Level Apprentice of the Year category;
  • Corey Fox, Heating Engineer; a finalist in the Advanced Level Apprentice of the Year category.

Their success highlight our continued commitment to developing skills and creating opportunities for people at the start of their careers.  Both Tyler and Corey are valued members of our organisation, and their nominations reflect their hard work, dedication and personal development.

As part of the evening, Marc Mayall, our Director of Operations, took to the stage to present the award for Higher Level Apprentice of the Year, a category we sponsored.

The event was hosted by Birmingham born Shazia Mirza, an award winning British comedian, actress and writer, known for her dry and sharp observational comedy.

Linda Gittings, our Apprenticeships and Qualifications Manager said: “We’re so proud of Tyler and Corey for reaching the finals; it’s a fantastic recognition of their effort, progress and professionalism.  Apprenticeships are a vital part of what we do at Platform and we’re committed to helping people gain skills and build lasting careers.”

Corey said: “I’ve had amazing support from my team mentors at Platform.  I never imaged getting this far so being recognised at the awards felt brilliant.”

The evening was a celebration of talent and ambition and we congratulate all the nominees and winners.  More about the event can be found at www.worcsapprenticeships.org.uk.
