Platform Housing has the Retirement Living scheme of Heaton House on St Peters Drive the village of Marley in the Malvern Hills District of Worcester.
To be eligible you need to be aged 60 and above or 55 and above if in receipt of Personal Independence Payments or Disability Living allowance.
Surrounded by open countryside, Martley is a popular village for retired people. Martley offers a well stocked shop and Post Office, popular dining at The Crown at Martley, and a strong sporting and social scene centred around the cricket club and its community run Tap & Run bar.
The cathedral city of Worcester is about 8 miles distant which provides a substantial range of amenities and facilities. These include a direct rail service to London Paddington and Birmingham. There is good M5 motorway access via junctions 5 at Wychbold that is around 13.5 miles away and Junctions 6 & 7 to the north and south of Worcester.
Heaton House has 15 self contained unfurnished apartments each with their own kitchen, lounge, bathroom and a double bedroom. Situated within communal grounds and at the centre is a delightful conservatory. Main heating is by electric storage heaters.
Please note, applicants for upper-floor apartments must be able to safely use stairs in the event of an emergency.
There are also 11 bungalows with access to Heaton House on St. Peters Drive near the main building. Set within communal grounds, each with a kitchen, lounge, bathroom and two bedrooms. main heating is by an air source heat pump.
Within Heaton House there is a communal room with a kitchen and a laundry room.
There is non-resident management staff and a 24 hour alarm system to call in help in case of an emergency.
One bed apartment - Typical rent/service charge can be up to £725.96 per calendar month.
Two bed bungalow – Typical rent/service charge can be up to £976.29 per calendar month.
You will be required to pay one month’s rent in advance prior to signing for the property. Please note our preferred method of payment is via Direct Debit and we accept Housing Benefit and Universal Credit.
Please note if you intend to claim Housing Element of Universal Credit or Housing Benefit then for these properties there are some service charges of up to £13.67 pcm that would not be covered by these benefits. This can typical be towards cost of administration and support.
If you are accepted and do become a Platform Housing Group tenant, you will be offered a starter tenancy. If there have been no breaches or issues within the first year of your tenancy you will be considered for an assured lifetime tenancy.
Please be aware Housing Benefit / Universal Credit will only pay for the property you are living in, and you will need to give notice on your current tenancy.
If you are successful in being offered this property you will be contacted by the Lettings Officer and you will need to complete an application form. At this stage the Lettings Officer will confirm the rent and service charges.
