Communities Connected events hailed a great success

A social housing provider recently took to the road to connect with their customers and bring about positive change in their local communities.

Platform Housing Group – one of the UK’s largest social landlords – held 109 Communities Connected events in just two weeks, across Derbyshire, Herefordshire, West Midlands, Worcestershire, Leicestershire and Lincolnshire.

The programme of events has been hailed a great success after it brought together nearly 3,000 customers, colleagues and local partners committed to creating stronger, healthier and thriving communities.

Platform Board members, along with more than 225 colleagues from teams across the Group, got involved in community clean-ups, health and wellbeing activities, digital and community safety events, along with advice and support sessions on the cost-of-living crisis.

Marion Duffy, Director of Housing Operations at Platform Housing Group said: “Our Communities Connected programme enables us to get out into the heart of our communities to offer a range of events and activities that can make a difference to our customers’ lives, whether through information sessions to support with the cost-of-living crisis, free family activities or helping to clean up a community area.

“I really enjoyed learning more about getting online, explains customer, Barbara who attended a session aimed at helping people with their computer skills. “The session I attended felt relaxed and I didn’t feel silly asking questions.”

On the back of this year’s success, Platform is already working on its next Communities Connected programme of events, planned for Spring 2023.
