Ending your Tenancy

Letting us know
If you’ve decided to move out of your home, you’ll need to let us know by submitting a Customer Notice to Quit form, which is linked below. This lets us begin the process of formally ending your tenancy and arranging the next steps.
Should you experience any issues with completing the form, please email emptyproperties@platformhg.com

Leaving your home
Before you move out, it's important to make sure your home is left clean, empty and in good condition. You can find a checklist and full details of what’s expected on our Leaving Your Home in Good Condition page.
Please remember: if your home does not meet the standards outlined, we will ask you to pay the costs of carrying out any necessary work to put things right.

Gas safety when moving out
When you're preparing to leave your home, it's important to make sure it's left in a gas safe condition. You have a legal responsibility to ensure any gas appliances you own are safely disconnected and removed. We recommend you use a qualified gas engineer – never attempt to do this yourself.
You can find a certified professional in your area by visiting the Gas Safe Register.
In the past, we’ve come across cases where gas points were left uncapped and dangerously close to live electrical cables. Had the new occupants turned on the gas supply, it could have released gas into the room, creating a serious risk of explosion. Even a small spark from a nearby cable could have had devastating consequences for both the home and neighbouring properties.
Leaving gas connections in this condition is not only extremely dangerous - it’s also illegal and could result in criminal prosecution.
