We have been recognised with a Gold Environment Award at the international Green Apple Awards for Environmental Best Practice, celebrating our commitment to improving the energy efficiency of our homes across the Midlands.

The award recognises our successful retrofit programme, which has been delivering phased energy saving improvements since 2018.  Measures such as upgraded insulation, modernised heating systems and the installation of solar panels have already helped thousands of customers reduce energy use, lower carbon emissions and save money on energy bills.

Competing against more than 1000 entries from around the world, we received our award at a ceremony at the House of Lords, Westminster Palace, where organisations were honoured for innovation and leadership in sustainability.

Lianne Taylor, our Director of Sustainability said: “We’re incredibly proud to receive this award.  It reflects the hard work and dedication of our teams, our delivery partners and our customers who have trusted us to make improvements in their homes.

“Our retrofit programme is already making a real difference and we’re committed to continuing this journey, making homes warmer, more efficient and supporting our wider drive towards net zero.”

Our retrofit programme supports our commitment to achieving EPC Band C for all homes by 2030 and reaching net zero by 2050. The recognition also highlights our data led approach to home energy improvements.

The Green Apple Awards, established in 1994, are regarded as one of the UK’s leading honours for environmental excellence. Run by The Green Organisation, the awards promote best practice across industries worldwide and are supported by several independent environmental bodies.

Looking ahead, we will continue building on its success by improving internal processes, strengthening data accuracy and reporting, enhancing customer communication and supporting colleagues through ongoing training and retrofit upskilling.
