Warndon residents are learning how to save lives and keep fit thanks to a £4,000 donation from our Community Chest fund.

The Oasis Hub, based at the Oasis Academy in Warndon run weekly sessions aimed at reducing isolation and giving the community a place to come together and learn new skills.

Run by hub staff and volunteers, they provide adult fitness sessions in the form of yoga and family fitness sessions which were especially a success during the school’s King’s coronation celebration.

A family support worker attends some sessions too which can be useful for families that may want advice.

Sophie, one of the mums who attends the yoga sessions, said: “As a busy mum of three, it's impossible to get any time to focus on myself. This one hour a week has changed my life. It's made such a difference to everything; personal wellbeing, health, strength and physical and mental health. It's given me back a sense of identity”.

Marion Duffy, Platform Housing Group’s Chief Operations Officer said, “It’s wonderful we’ve been able to provide funding to such a worthwhile initiative that the whole community can be involved in.

“The Academy is a great location being based in the heart of the community and we’re pleased to work in partnership with the hub staff and volunteers there.”

Platform customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for Community Chest Funding if their work or project directly benefits local Platform customers.
