Our handcrafted tree takes pride of place at Worcester Cathedral’s Christmas Tree Festival

We are proudly taking part in this year’s Christmas Tree Festival at Worcester Cathedral, with a unique handcrafted tree created by one of our own colleagues.

The annual festival brings together beautifully decorated trees from organisations and community groups across Worcestershire, transforming the cathedral into a stunning festive display for visitors to enjoy throughout the season.

This year, our entry has an extra special touch, the tree was hand built by Glyn Howard, a Localities Area Manager at Platform Property Care, who generously gave his time and skills to create the structure from scratch.

Glyn said: “It was a real pleasure to get involved and make something personal for such a special community event.  I used recycled wood from a previous project and added a few details to make the tree stand out.  I’m proud of how it has turned out and even more proud that it represents Platform in such a meaningful way.”

As well as showcasing creativity and craftsmanship, the tree reflects our commitment to community connection, inclusion and belonging, key values at the heart of both the organisation and the festival itself.  Alongside the tree, there will be details about grants available to our customers.

Tom Piotrowski, our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Manager said: “The Christmas Tree Festival is a beautiful reminder of the power of community and shared celebration.  It’s wonderful to see Platform represented in this space, not just through a tree, but through the generosity, effort and care of our colleagues.  We hope visitors enjoy the display and feel the warmth that went into creating it.”

The materials were donated by one of our suppliers Travis Perkins.

The festival runs until Sunday 5 January 2026 and is open during normal cathedral opening hours.  Entry is free, with donations welcomed to support the cathedral’s work.

Our tree can be viewed alongside dozens of others in the cathedral’s stunning medieval nave, a festive experience that brings together creativity, community spirit and seasonal joy.
