As food banks across the UK experience record levels of demand, we are stepping up our support with a £500 donation to Hereford Foodbank, delivered through our £86,000 annual Christmas Kindness campaign.

The donation will help Hereford Foodbank provide fresh food and a few seasonal treats in their emergency food parcels throughout December, a lifeline for local people referred because they are experiencing crisis.

Helen Parker, Manager of Hereford Food Bank said: “We are so grateful to Platform for its generous £500 Christmas Kindness donation.  Unfortunately, we are getting busier and donations such as this help us to cover the cost of fresh dairy, bread and fruit and a few small treats in our December seven day emergency food parcels for local people referred to us because they are in crisis.”

A recent food parcel recipient also shared their appreciation, saying: “I can’t thank you enough, I am overwhelmed by the amount of food and it is nice to have something in the cupboard.”

Demand for food banks continues to rise across the UK.  According to the latest House of Commons Library analysis (2025), around 4 per cent of people in the UK used a food bank in the past 12 months, highlighting increasing pressure on emergency food providers.  Additional national data suggests millions more are living in households struggling to afford food, making the work of organisations like Hereford Food Bank more crucial than ever.

Marion Duffy, our Chief Operations Officer said: “Our Christmas Kindness campaign is all about supporting the organisations that make a real and immediate difference to people in our communities.  Hereford Food Bank provides essential support for local families during what can be a particularly difficult time of year, and we’re pleased to play a small part in helping them continue this vital work.”
