Platform has extended a £1,000 helping hand to the Worcester Food Bank to help provide special Christmas food parcels for families facing financial hardship in Worcester and the surrounding areas this festive season.

The donation is part of our Annual Community Kindness Campaign, which will see us donate £60,000 to support various local food banks, specialist organisations and charities in our communities.

Worcester Food Bank is a vital charity, offering year-round emergency assistance to individuals and families in need. Their support takes the form of crisis food parcels and ongoing weekly food supplies. The donation from Platform will ensure that these provisions extend to include the festive season, bringing joy and relief to those facing challenging circumstances.

John Weguelin, Chair of Platform Housing Group’s Board said, “Worcester Foodbank and the organisations we are helping, as part of our annual Christmas Kindness Campaign, provide essential support services to customers in the heart of our local communities.

“When the cost of living continues to be a daily challenge for many, it’s great that Platform can help spread a little festive, food parcel, cheer to families and children who are struggling this Christmas.”

Ruth Allsopp Operations Coordinator at Worcester Foodbank shared why Platform’s donation is so important: "We have seen demand for our services increase by 40% this year at Worcester Foodbank and without donations from organisations like Platform Housing Group, we wouldn't be able to support everyone who needs us.

As well as this financial support, Platform also act as a referral agent, issuing foodbank vouchers to people in their homes, making our partnership with them key in reaching those in need. We are very grateful for their support."
