Housing development in Crowle is praised by local MP

An affordable housing development in rural Worcestershire has been praised by the local MP for providing somewhere for local people to stay living in the county.
Nigel Huddlestone, MP for Droitwich, Evesham and the Villages was shown around our Lower Orchards site in Crowle.
He was joined by constructors Logmoor and District and County Councillor Linda Robinson to visit the homes and meet a local resident.
Built on Froxmere Road and providing 12 new homes at a mixture of affordable rent and shared ownership tenures, the site remains an example of how important it is to provide rural communities with homes that are suited to the area and provide real opportunities for local people to be able to live there.
Nigel Huddlestone MP said: “It’s great to see Platform Housing’s plans for new small scale developments, like the one in Crowle, which are sympathetic to local communities and provide well built, affordable homes with both shared ownership and rental options.
“By working with small contractors such as Logmoor, Platform is helping to deliver affordable housing that allows local people to continue living here in Worcestershire.”
On the day, Mr Huddlestone was shown around by our Group Chief Executive Elizabeth Froude, who said: “There are many examples across Worcestershire and the Midlands of rural communities that need affordable housing to allow local people and their families to be able to stay in the area and not having to move away or live in high priced private rented accommodation. Here at Lower Orchards, we’ve seen people who work locally at Worcestershire Royal Hospital, who have children or grandchildren attending the local school, find a way to stay in the place they love when they would otherwise have been priced out. It has been important for both local and central government to see first hand the benefit of delivering homes to communities like Crowle in order to support us going forward to help others across the region. I’d like to thank Nigel Huddlestone MP for his time, for meeting our residents and witnessing the key part all of the tenures we deliver for rural housing play in solving the housing crisis.”
In the year to April 2025, we started building more than 300 rural homes across the Midlands and are set to start on a further 160 by the middle of next year. The development in Crowle was highlighted earlier in the year during Rural Housing Week, a campaign led by the National Housing Federation to emphasise the importance of providing affordable housing for rural communities to allow local people and young families to continue living in such areas.
