Communities Connected fortnight transforms communities across the Midlands
Residents and colleagues across the Midlands have been making a big difference during our Communities Connected fortnight, a two week programme of volunteering, connection and local impact.
The 16 events took place across Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, the West Midlands and Warwickshire and were part of a wider programme that saw 114 Platform volunteers give 434.5 hours of their time to local projects.
The events ranged from environmental clean ups and community gardening to wellbeing sessions and fundraising activities. Environmental sustainability led the way as the most popular theme, with 50 per cent of all activities focused on supporting greener living.
Bongos Bingo was one of the most successful events across the fortnight, with 11 volunteers contributing a total of 88 hours. The Estates Services team were the best represented group across the region, taking part in multiple events and volunteering days.
Events included creating a wildflower area at Hoyle Court in Bakewell and bulb planting at Hurst Farm in Matlock.
Chris Pinson-Bradley, our Community Engagement Manager said: “The creativity and enthusiasm from colleagues and residents was incredible during Communities Connected fortnight. Whether it was improving local green spaces or hosting community fun days, every event brought people together and strengthened our neighbourhoods.”
Our Communities Connected programme reflects our commitment to social impact and partnership working with hundreds of colleagues volunteering their time to support local communities.
