Communities across Worcestershire and beyond have been at the heart of our Communities Connected fortnight, a two week celebration of community spirit, volunteering and positive local impact.

The 25 events took place across Herefordshire and Worcestershire, bringing people together to make a difference in their neighbourhoods.

Across all three regional programmes, 114 volunteers gave their time and energy, contributing a combined 434.5 hours, the equivalent of more than 18 full days of community support.

Environmental sustainability proved to be the most popular theme, with half of all events focused on greener living, showing how passionate our colleagues and customers are about protecting their local environment.

Events included a games afternoon at Meadow Court in Worcester and a scheme tidy up at Bradley Thursfield Court in Kidderminster.

Highlights included the ever popular Bongos Bingo event, where 11 volunteers clocked up an impressive 88 hours of community engagement and the continued commitment of our Estate Services Team, who repeated their successful volunteer day again this year.

Chris Pinson-Bradley, Community Engagement Manager at Platform Housing Group said: “The energy, compassion and creativity shown across Severn during Communities Connected was inspiring.  These events remind us of the difference that’s made when people come together, from gardening and litter picking to fun days and wellbeing sessions.  It’s all about connecting communities and celebrating local pride.”

Communities Connected is our annual volunteering initiative, designed to encourage colleagues and customers to work together for positive social and environmental impact.
