Communities Connected brings people and purpose across the East Midlands and beyond
Communities in the East Midlands and beyond have been celebrating the power of connection and volunteering, as our Communities Connected fortnight delivered meaningful impact across the East of England.
Nine events took place across the East Riding of Yorkshire, Lincolnshire, Nottingham, Rutland, Northamptonshire and Cambridgeshire, all part of a wider initiative that saw 114 volunteers give more than 434 hours to local causes.
Events included a poppy making workshop at Clarke Way in Skegness and a garden makeover for Friskney’s community garden.
The programme focused on supporting neighbourhoods through environmental improvement, wellbeing activities and social events. Half of all activities centred on environmental sustainability, reflecting our strong commitment to creating greener, more resilient communities.
The fortnight also saw Bongos Bingos crowned as the most popular event.
Chris Pinson-Bradley, our Community Engagement Manager said: “Communities Connected is all about people; neighbours coming together to make a difference. In the Witham region, it’s been fantastic to see colleagues and customers working side by side to improve their local areas and bring some extra energy and positivity to their communities.”
Communities Connected forms part of our wider community investment work, which supports hundreds of local initiatives each year to promote wellbeing, inclusion and sustainability.
