We have made a £700 donation to the Lodge Road Community Church Centre – Newbigin House, run by Newbigin Community Trust, as part of our annual Christmas Kindness Campaign.

The campaign, which sees £86,000 shared between over 150 local charities and organisations in neighbours where we have homes, aims to support projects that make a real difference to our customers and local communities over the festive period and beyond.

This funding will help Newbigin Community Trust offer a warm space, food, and drink to local residents - including Platform customers - throughout the winter months. The warm space will run from 5 December 2025 to 27 February 2026, every Friday from 9:30am to 11am, providing free hot drinks, toasties and a welcoming place to connect with others.

“We’re so grateful for the support from Platform’s Christmas Kindness Campaign,” said Amanda Winstanley from Newbigin Community Trust.

“This funding will help us keep our doors open during the coldest months of the year, offering a warm and welcoming space for anyone in our community who needs it. It’s about more than just warmth - it’s about friendship, connection, and belonging. We’re proud to work alongside Platform to support our local community and help people feel part of something special.”

Based in Lodge Road Community Church Centre, the Newbigin Community Trust supports people of all ages across three local hubs. The Lodge Road hub focuses on reducing loneliness and isolation among adults, providing free activities, one-to-one support, and access to services. It also offers creative spaces for arts, crafts, and music, and helps local residents develop their skills and confidence.

John Weguelin, Chair of Platform Housing Group’s Board added: “Our Christmas Kindness Campaign is all about supporting local projects that bring people together and make a positive impact where our customers live. The work that Newbigin Community Trust does at Lodge Road Community Centre is a perfect example of that community spirit. We’re delighted to support their efforts to provide a safe, friendly space where people can stay warm, meet others and feel connected this winter.”
