Platform Housing has a Retirement Living scheme of Brooklands Gardens just off Walcot Road in Market Harborough.

A charming and historic market town, Market Harborough is in far southeast part of Leicestershire on the border with Northamptonshire that offers a wide variety of leisure activities. Also there is wide variety of mainstream shops along with a wealth of independent retailers, eateries both on the main streets and awaiting discovery tucked away along many quaint little streets and yards.

Brooklands Gardens has 67 apartments, mainly one bedroom and some two bed apartments near the heart of Market Harborough, only a short walk to the town centre.  Communal facilities include the gardens and courtyard, lift, three spacious communal lounges, two laundry rooms, door entry control, mobility scooter store and guest facilities.  There is non-resident management staff and a 24 hour Careline alarm service.

Each apartment is self-contained and unfurnished. Briefly consists of:-

To be eligible you must be aged 60+ or 55+ if you are in receipt of Personal Independence Payments or Disability Living Allowance.

You will be required to pay one month’s rent/service charges of £1131.16 in advance on the tenancy start day.

If you are eligible and intend to claim Housing Benefit or Housing element of Universal Credit, Please note for all apartments some service charges would not be covered by these benefits. This includes a £45.28pcm towards the cost of personal heating, £6.35pcm towards the cost of personal water to the apartment, a £7.79pcm towards the cost for support & £7.74pcm towards administration charge.

The preferred method of payment ongoing is via Direct Debit and we accept Housing Benefit and Universal Credit.

If you are accepted and do become a Platform Housing Group tenant, you will be offered a starter tenancy. If there have been no breaches or issues within the first year of your tenancy you will be considered for an assured or affordable rent lifetime tenancy.  

Please be aware Housing Benefit / Universal Credit will only pay for the property you are living in and you will need to give notice on your current tenancy.

If you are a current private tenant, council tenant or a housing association tenant you will be required to give notice on your current home. This is usually 4 weeks or 1 months’ notice. If you are a current tenant of Platform Housing Group, you will be required to give 4 weeks or 1 months’ notice.  You will only need to give notice if you have been informed that you are being considered/offered a property. If you have any further questions, please contact your landlord.

If you are successful in being offered this property you will be contacted by the Lettings Officer and you will need to complete an application form. At this stage the Lettings Officer will confirm the rent and service charges.
