A brand new community event in Worcester brought together more than 20 organisations to inspire, engage and support local young people.

The Youth Day - organised by ourselves in partnership with Worcester City Council – took place at Warndon Community Centre Playing Field earlier this summer and attracted around 250 attendees, offering a packed programme of activities, information and food.

The aim was to connect young people with new opportunities, encourage safe choices and highlight the wide range of support available locally.

Play Worcester led the fun with its popular playground big blue blocks and water play, chosen after consulting directly with children and young people.

Visitors also enjoyed a healthy free lunch, provided by Food Genie and thanks to HAF funding from the local authority, while our apprenticeship team joined in to share career opportunities.

An impressive line up of 23 organisations supported the day, including the police, Action for Children and Worcestershire County Council.

Paul Edwards, our Community Engagement Officer said: “There was a fantastic atmosphere on the day and it was great to see different partners coming together to demonstrate their support to the community.  We're looking forward to this becoming an annual event and building on the success of this year.”

Nicola Stubbs, Chairperson from Play Worcester said: “We are all about making Worcester a vibrant place to live so it was fantastic to see children and families having such a great time.  This event showed how play can bring people together.”

Feedback from attendees and partners has been overwhelmingly positive, with many asking for the Youth Day to become a regular fixture in the summer calendar.

With three months of planning, a huge team effort and a strong focus on community spirit, the first Youth Day has laid the foundations for an exciting new annual tradition in Worcester.
