Platform Housing Group has provided funding to Alford Town Football Club in Lincolnshire, to enable them to purchase around 130 club coats for their young football players.

Lisa Fairlie, Platform Housing Group’s Director of Operations said, “Our Community Chest Fund was set up to directly support customers in our local communities, so it’s great to have been able to help Alford Town Football Club provide coats for their young players, to help keep them warm.

“Team sports, like football, can be very beneficial to children as it can keep them active and teach them skills that will benefit them in later life, on and off the field.”

Platform customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations can apply for Community Chest Funding if their work or project directly benefits local Platform customers.  All applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on their Customer Experience Panel.

Rob Wilson, Alford Town FC, Club Secretary, Treasurer & Welfare Officer said: “Alford Town Football Club is very grateful for the generous grant from Platform Housing Group’s Community Chest Fund.  It has enabled us to provide good quality winter coats for general use, including school, for approximately 130 children aged 6 -15 years old, currently playing for our teams.

“This has ensured that all of these children will be well wrapped up against the cold and rain during the winter, at a time when families are struggling with the steep rises in the cost of living.”
