We are supporting community events in Bromyard this summer
Community events bringing families together in Bromyard this summer have been made possible thanks to support from our Community Chest programme.
Bromyard Recreation Ground has been awarded funds to help deliver a family inflatable fun day – which took place last month – and a community rounders tournament in July at the town’s recreation ground on York Road.
The May event provided free, accessible activities for local families whilst the rounders tournament will encourage community connection, physical activity and positive wellbeing.
The May event celebrated the opening of a new trim trail at the recreation ground and included inflatables, games, refreshments, raffles and family activities.
The 3 July event will see children, adults and community organisations – including a local police team – come together for a fun community rounders tournament
Organisers say the recreation ground plays an important role within Bromyard, particularly for families who may have limited access to free activities and outdoor facilities.
Paul Baker from Bromyard Recreation Ground said: “As the only park in Bromyard, we feel it’s really important that we provide opportunities for families and the wider community to come together, have fun and make positive memories.
“These events are all about creating inclusive activities that everyone can enjoy, regardless of age or background. We’re very grateful to Platform Housing Group for supporting us and helping make these community events possible.”
The funding will help cover practical event costs including equipment, gazebo and toilet hire, refreshments and activity materials.
Christine Bailey, our Community Engagement Officer said: “Community events like these can make a real difference in bringing people together and helping families feel connected to where they live.
“It’s fantastic to see local organisations creating inclusive activities that encourage wellbeing, social connection and pride in the local community. We’re very pleased to be able to support Bromyard Recreation Ground through the Community Chest programme.”
Our Community Chest fund supports a wide range of local projects focused on wellbeing, inclusion, community cohesion and opportunities for local people. The pot is for our customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations for any projects directly benefitting our customers; all applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on our Customer Voice Panel.
