Two of our colleagues have been shortlisted for national recognition at this year’s Great British Fleet Awards, highlighting our commitment to safety, sustainability and innovation.

John Parker, Fleet Risk and Compliance Manager and Adam Jones, Fleet Environmental Manager, have both been named as finalists, with the awards set to take place on 16 April.

John has been shortlisted for Fleet Safety Superstar, recognising his work to improve driver safety and reduce risk across our fleet.  Over the past year, he has successfully introduced a new driver management app, now used by around 700 operatives, helping to improve driving behaviours and compliance across a large, mobile workforce.

He has also led the rollout of a new grey fleet management programme, ensuring that more than 1500 colleagues who drive for business purposes are operating safely, legally and in line with regulations.

John said: “I’m really proud to be shortlisted for this award.  Improving driver safety and reducing risk is something I’m passionate about and it’s been great to see such strong engagement from colleagues across the organisation.  This is very much a team effort and reflects the importance we place on keeping our people safe.”

Adam Jones has been shortlisted in two categories – Fleet Initiative Superstar and Eco Superstar – in recognition of his leadership in decarbonising our fleet.

Over the past three years, Adam has led the rollout of electric vehicles and charging infrastructure across the organisation, supporting our wider sustainability ambitions.  This includes the introduction of electric light commercial vehicles and plug in hybrid vehicles, alongside the installation of workplace and home charging points.

His work has delivered significant environmental benefits, alongside operational improvements and cultural change across the workforce.

Adam said: “It’s fantastic to be recognised in this way.  Decarbonising our fleet has been a major focus and it’s been great to see how colleagues have embraced the transition.  There’s still more to do but this is a really positive step forward in reducing our environmental impact.”

Matthew Neale, our Head of Fleet said: “It’s fantastic to see both John and Adam recognised at a national level.  Their work has had a real impact across the organisation, from improving the safety of our colleagues on the road to driving forward our sustainability ambitions.  They have shown real leadership in their respective areas, embedding new ways of working and delivering measurable results.  These nominations are thoroughly deserved and reflect the commitment, innovation and expertise they bring to Platform every day.”

In addition to these individual nominations, we have also been shortlisted in the UK Green Business Awards for Transport Project of the Year, recognising our wider work in fleet electrification.

These nominations reflect our ongoing commitment to innovation, sustainability and the safety and wellbeing of our colleagues, while continuing to deliver high quality services to customers.
