Thirty one years of remarkable service and unshakable spirit

After more than three decades of loyal service, much loved Worcester colleague Jean Webb is retiring from her role as Group Fleet Administrator
Jean, who turns 82 next year, has been an integral part of the organisation for 31 years. Known for her straight talking nature, good humour and tireless work ethic, she leaves behind a legacy of dedication and inspiration.
Jean’s career journey with us and our legacy organisations began in 1992. Originally brought in as a temp for PAT testing school contracts, she quickly became indispensable. Her roles over the years have spanned across housing contracts for Sanctuary, Hanover and Shaftsbury, asbestos sampling, void works, technical services, grounds maintenance and caretaking, eventually becoming a key figure in the Fleet team, where she managed operations for six years.
Her commitment to the job was matched by a deep sense of responsibility to her team and the wider organisation. Jean credits her decision to continue working beyond the age of 75 to the support she found in her work after the loss of her daughter, a role that helped her through one of life’s most difficult challenges.
Jean said: “My work has been varied and a challenge at times but I’ve enjoyed every minute. Matt Neale is a very considerate manager and I’ve really enjoyed working for him.”
Jean’s big heart has made her a favourite among colleagues. Outside of work she stays active, cycling, playing skittles and enjoying green bowling. She’s also been clocking up the miles walking her granddaughter’s dog and has no plans to slow down just yet, even hinting at looking for a part time role in retirement.
Matthew Neale, our Head of Fleet said: “After 31 incredible years of service, we extend our deepest gratitude to Jean for her unwavering dedication, kindness and tireless commitment. Her impact has reached far beyond her role, touching the lives of colleagues, customers and communities alike. Jean’s legacy at Platform will be remembered not just in the work she accomplished but in the way she made people feel supported, heard and valued. Thank you Jean, you leave behind not just a career to be proud of but an inspiration to us all.”
