Community fun day raises funds for urban farm
16 September 2024
Platform is supporting St Richard’s Hospice Christmas tree collection initiative.
Platform Property Care – a subsidiary of Platform Housing Group – will take part in the two day event in January where they will help collect and recycle hundreds of Christmas trees.
The recycling initiative will take place on Sunday 8 and Monday 9 January; Platform Property Care will provide two chippers – from Travis Perkins and Global Sales - as well as colleagues on both days at The Countryside Centre, Worcester, with the trees being dropped off by volunteers.
The campaign is now in its seventh year with Platform Property Care – then Fortis Living - having been involved since the start.
Those wishing to take part register their tree online and, if they choose too, make a donation to the hospice by 11.00pm on Tuesday 3 January; supports can also opt to gift aid their donation. This year collections will take place in all WR postcodes throughout the county.
Last year, £46,500 was raised by supporters and 2,160 trees were collected and chipped.
Simon Harris, Service Manager at Platform Housing Group said : “Supporting community initiatives such as the hospice’s Christmas tree collection campaign is really important to us. It’s fabulous to be involved in assisting the hospice to raise such vital funds for their work. We’d like to encourage as many people as possible to join up and get involved.”
Ria Simons, Corporate Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice said : “Each year our Christmas tree collection campaign raises thousands to help us fund our free care to patients and their loved ones. We couldn’t achieve this without the kind support of volunteers like the team from Platform Property Care and our community who donate so generously. Thank you to Platform Property Care – and all those involved in helping make this campaign a success for our care.”
