Gardening project will bring joy to local residents
Community spirited residents at a retirement living scheme in Leicestershire will use funds granted to them to transform their communal garden.
Customers at Brooklands Gardens in Market Harborough applied to our Community Chest to request financial help to develop their outside space.
The grant comes from a funding pot for our customers and local charities, clubs and not-for-profit organisations; applications are welcomed if their work or project directly benefits our customers. All applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on our Customer Voice Panel.
The funding will help to purchase 2 benches as well as plants, soil, slate and membrane.
Resident John Piggott – who was instrumental in securing the funding – said: “We are really grateful to Platform for helping us to fund this project. Our aim was to make the outside of our scheme look inviting and create somewhere where we are proud to live. The benches are perfect for some of our elderly residents who have mobility issues but still like to sit outside.”
Marion Duffy, our Chief Operations Officer said: “What a lovely project! It’s so heartwarming to think that these benches at Brooklands Gardens allow our customers to socialise, really benefiting their health and wellbeing and offering a real boost to community cohesion.”
