Families enjoy a day of free fun at Westlands estate

Hundreds of residents came together last month for the annual Family Fun Day at Westlands First School in Droitwich, an event that has been a highlight of the estate for more than a decade.
The fun filled day, held on Wednesday 13 August, was jointly funded by ourselves and Wychavon District Council and organised by The Moving Forward Project.
More than 440 people attended, the majority of them our customers, enjoying a sunny afternoon of free activities including face painting, inflatables, fairground rides and ice pops. Families also had the chance to meet with a wide range of local organisations, including the police, fire service and army, all on hand to engage with the community.
The Moving Forward Project works closely with us throughout the year, delivering initiatives such as weekly drop in sessions, IT support and seasonal events, with Hallowe’en and Christmas already in the planning stages.
Chris Colley, our Community Engagement Officer said: “We’re proud to have supported another fantastic Family Fun Day on the Westlands estate. The turnout was incredible and the atmosphere was a true reflection of the strong community spirit here. Events like this are about more than just fun, they provide opportunities for families to connect, access support and feel proud of where they live.”
Nikki Beeston, Project Manager at Moving Forward said: “We would like to extend our thanks to all the agencies who came along to support the event. It was wonderful to see so many people engaging, taking part and enjoying the activities. Events like this are such a valuable way of bringing families and the wider community together, creating opportunities for connection and support. We would especially like to thank Platform and Wychavon District Council for allowing us to organise such a fantastic event and for their continued support in helping us make a difference for the community. Without the generosity of partners and agencies working together, events like this simply would not be possible.”
Patrick Connelly, Communities Officer (North) at Wychavon District Council said: “It was a well organised event and we commend our partners Moving Forward for their relentless efforts to make the fun day the success it is every year. We would also like to extend our thanks to Platform for match funding the day with us and the wider partners that had stalls at the event.”
