A long running seated yoga group helping older residents stay active and connected in Droitwich has received continued support from our Community Chest fund.

Heriotts Seated Yoga has been awarded funds to help cover the costs of weekly sessions for residents at The Heriotts in Droitwich.

The group, which has been running for nine years, provides gentle seated yoga classes designed to encourage movement, improve wellbeing and reduce loneliness among older people in the community.

The funding will cover the cost of a yoga instructor for 30 sessions, helping ensure the group can continue offering accessible exercise and social opportunities for residents.

Most of the people attending the classes are our customers and the group has continued to grow in popularity over the years.

Liz Jauncey from Heriotts Seated Yoga said: “We really appreciate the support Platform has given us over the last nine years.  The sessions are about much more than exercise, they help people come together, make friendships and feel less isolated.

“The classes are always well attended and many residents really look forward to them each week.  It’s wonderful to see the positive difference they continue to make.”

Our Community Chest fund supports projects and groups that improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and strengthen local communities.

Chris Colley, our Community Engagement Officer said: “Groups like Heriotts Seated Yoga play a hugely important role in supporting health, wellbeing and social connection for older residents.

“It’s fantastic to see a project that has been making such a positive difference for nearly a decade continue to thrive, and we’re very pleased to be able to support the group once again through our Community Chest funding.”

Our Community Chest fund supports a wide range of local projects focused on wellbeing, inclusion, community cohesion and opportunities for local people.  The pot is for our customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations for any projects directly benefitting our customers; all applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on our Customer Voice Panel.
