A new community project in Arley and Ansley – two neighbouring Warwickshire villages – has received a welcome boost, thanks to funding from our Community Kindness initiative.

The Arley and Ansley Community Shed has been awarded £500 which will help the newly formed group set up a Men’s Shed, a safe and welcoming space for people to connect, learn new skills and take part in woodworking and craft activities.  Although the shed is being established under the national Men In Sheds model, it will be open to all members of the local community.

Karen Garland, Secretary and Trustee of the Arley and Ansley Community Shed said: “We’re thrilled to receive this funding which gives us a strong start in getting the Shed off the ground.  Our aim is to create a place where people can come together, share skills, enjoy some hands on creativity and, most importantly, feel part of something.  It’s about connection, wellbeing and community, and we’re so grateful to Platform for its support.”

The initiative forms part of our ongoing commitment to support projects that improve wellbeing, reduce isolation and bring communities together.

Bindya Mistry, our Community Engagement Officer said: “We’re proud to support this brilliant initiative.  The Shed will offer more than just woodwork, it’s about giving people purpose, connection and a place to belong.  It’s fantastic to see this kind of community spirit in action and we’re excited to see it grow.”

A cheque presentation recently took place, marking the start of what promises to be a valued new hub for local residents.
