Our Community Chest fund helped to bring a much loved local event to life earlier this month with fun, food and family friendly activities for all

South Worcestershire Citizens Advice applied to our Community Chest, a funding pot for our customers and local charities, clubs and other not-for-profit organisations for any projects directly benefitting our customers; all applications are assessed against specific eligibility criteria by customers who sit on our Customer Voice Panel.

The grant supported a popular family fun day, which took place on Saturday 21 June at Malvern Town Football Club’s HDAnywhere Community Stadium.

The annual event – which has just celebrated its third year – offered a free afternoon of entertainment and engagement, attracting hundreds of local residents and community partners.  Designed to strengthen community ties and promote the wide range of support services available locally, the event is fast becoming a fixture on the town’s summer calendar.

This year’s family fun day included bouncy castles, face painting, sports, arts and crafts, games, tombolas and live music, plus stalls and support from organisations such as Citizens Advice, Age UK, Freedom Leisure and Action for Children.

Thanks to the Community Chest grant, this year’s event included a community choir performance and a free bouncy castle arena, helping to keep costs down for families and ensuring the day remained accessible to all.

Annie Robson, Chief Executive Officer at South Worcestershire Citizens Advice said: “The family fun day is all about bringing people together, offering free and affordable fun and showcasing the support available in our community.  We’re really grateful to Platform for supporting us again this year; the funding helps us keep the day inclusive and engaging for everyone.”

Nicholas Richardson, our Community Engagement Officer said: “With an estimated 70 per cent of attendees being Platform customers, events like this offer real value to our communities.  We’re proud to have supported it again; it was another brilliant afternoon.”
