    Elizabeth has an extensive business change background working for large FTSE companies both in UK and across Europe; these have been mostly in operationally focussed roles involving process improvement, mergers and buy outs. Her housing career began 14 years ago and includes involvement in the creation of the Radian Group, the only 3-way merger in housing to this day.

    Jon leads on IT, performance reporting and project management.

    Marion is responsible for all tenures of Housing, the Contact Centre and Income Management.

Our Board

  1. A. Dennis Sleath

    Dennis Sleath
    Chair

    Dennis is a chartered accountant with many years of experience in the house-building and residential development industries.

    He is a former managing director of a Midlands-based house builder delivering over 2,000 houses annually and a past chair of the Midlands House Builders Federation.

    Dennis has extensive financial and management knowledge and has used this in the social housing sector to maximise the provision of homes whilst at the same time delivering good quality landlord services. He has a wealth of experience as board chair and has been instrumental in seeing five Midlands-based social housing providers successfully join Platform Housing Group.

    Dennis’ personal mission has always been to maximise the number of homes the group provide. This is driven by the belief that a home is the bedrock of people’s lives

  2. AB. John Weguelin

    John Weguelin
    Chair designate

    John has a background in the banking sector and has more than 30 years’ experience in financial services. He has been involved in the housing sector for over nine years and brings in excess of 15 years’ board experience to Platform Housing Group.

    John is passionate about the role that housing associations play in today’s society. He passionately believes they have a responsibility to address the acute shortage of housing and recognises the importance of building and maintaining communities, listening to customers and residents, and providing exceptional customer service.

    In addition to his role at Platform Housing Group, John is a board member of the Longleigh Foundation, a charitable trust set up to ‘transform the lives of people in need’.

  4. C. David Clark

    David Clark

    David is a residential property asset management specialist and leasehold expert. He is chair and co-owner at Mainstay Group, a national residential and mixed-use asset manager.

    An Associate of the RICS, he is a former chair of both the Association of Residential Managing Agents (ARMA) and also the Institute of Residential Managing Agents (IRPM) of which he is a Fellow. David also sits on the board of Housing 21 and is an independent director at Queen Alexander College Enterprises.

    David has spent his entire career in customer-facing roles in the residential property industry and as chair of Platform Property Care, he is committed to ensuring that the group delivers 'best in class' repair and maintenance services.

  5. E. Philip Dearing

    Philip Dearing

    Philip is an experienced banker with a successful career in the mutual financial services sector. He is chair of a group of public sector companies and most recently has successfully chaired a Midlands-based building society.  He also acts as a consultant on a range of financial, regulatory and governance matters for a variety of clients.

    Philip cares passionately about the acute need for more affordable housing provision and uses his skillsets to support Platform Housing Group in its drive to provide more mixed tenure schemes to help meet local demand.

  6. F. Steve Dyson

    Steve Dyson

    Steve is a leading media consultant, trainer and journalist. His training ranges from basic grammar to good writing skills, and from broadcast classes to crisis media management. He also creates and delivers numerous courses for the National Council for the Training of Journalists.

    Steve is a former editor of the Birmingham Mail, the Evening Gazette, Teesside, and BQ West Midlands, a business magazine. He has also presented daily BBC radio shows, has created scores of the BBC’s HARDtalk interview programmes and presents the ‘Aston means business’ podcast for Aston Business School.

    Away from his media work, Steve has been a board member of Platform Housing since 2012 and a trustee of The Gap Youth Charity since 2015.

  7. H. Jeff Sharnock

    Jeff Sharnock

    Jeff has significant experience in social housing leadership. Some 20-plus organisations have benefited from his senior management and consultancy skills including registered providers, councils, Arm’s Length Management Organisations (ALMO’s), as well as private sector housing.

    Jeff also has extensive experience of sector specific training and employment provision. 

  8. I. Helen Southwell

    Helen Southwell

    Helen has over 25 years’ NHS experience in general management and senior commissioning roles across South Birmingham, and more recently as deputy director of Primary Care in Worcestershire. She has senior level board experience working across a range of healthcare and community providers and is currently working in a national role for a stroke charity.

    Helen is an experienced professional with interests in strategy and service integration and embedding transformational change across organisations.  Her housing experience started as former board trustee for a Birmingham-based housing association and she is a co-opted board member for Amica 24, a telecare partnership subsidiary of The Community Housing Group in Worcestershire.  

  9. J. Jennifer Wood

    Jennifer Wood

    Jennifer is a chartered civil engineer and a member of the Association for Project Management. Her career has spanned over 40 years during which she has led development projects and programmes both in the UK and overseas, as well as acting in advisory role for organisations in the UK and Hong Kong. More recently Jennifer has led the estates directorates of Oxford and Wolverhampton Universities through periods of organisational transformation and major capital development programmes.

    Jennifer has significant board experience gained from parliamentary programmes and a public sector property management company. She has been a member of the Platform Housing Group board since 2012 and sits on the board of Platform Property Care.
